SESSION 15
Listen to Joe Hawk's tenth tape.
Step eight - "Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all."
A good way to start the eighth step list is to use the fourth and fifth step.
This step should also be done in prayer
The seventh step prayer can be used.
Other prayers can also be used.
I am working with the God of my understanding. I should be able to use prayers of my understanding.
Go back to the fourth step list and review the names.
On a separate sheet of paper write down any name I think I have harmed.
- Harm of commission - Things I did (cheat, lie, steal, shoot, etc.)
- Harm of omission - Things I didn't do. (Abandoned, wasn't there, didn't help, etc.)
DO NOT, at this time, try to analyze how the harm may have hurt the other person.
Avoid justification. Just write it down.
Now take the list and, IN PRAYER, try to picture the person and think:
"Am I willing to do what ever it takes to set right the harm?"
- If the answer is "yes" put a next to the name.
- If the answer is "no" - or "I don't know" put a next to the name.
The list can be split up several ways:
-
Now
Yes
Face to face -
Someday
Maybe
Phone call -
Never
No way
Letter
Go over the list with your sponsor or spiritual advisor in prayer.
The power to do the negatives will come by doing the positives and/or praying for the willingness to do the negatives.
Remember that the purpose of the eighth and ninth steps is to fit myself to be of service to God and to other people.
